Advanced Diagnostic
Testing
In addition to a comprehensive menu of standard and routine tests, we continuously enhance our practice with the most innovative and specialized tests available today.
We integrate scientifically-validated advanced techniques with traditional histologic diagnosis to provide our clients with the accurate prognostic and predictive information necessary for customized treatment and survivorship plans.
Our goal is to provide detailed answers to complex diagnostic questions. We constantly strive to develop new systems to advance patient care and safety, optimize workflow and productivity, and reduce costs.
Advanced Pathology Testing at ECPC
FISH Testing (fluorescence in situ hybridization)
Our robust menu of FISH testing includes FISH for solid and hematologic neoplasms. FISH interpretation is performed by our pathologists – a service level of expertise unusual in a community-based pathology practice. Examples of frequently requested FISH tests include:
- HER2 FISH for breast cancer
- ALK and ROS1 FISH for lung cancer
- BCR/ABL1 FISH for chronic myeloid leukemia
- FISH panels to evaluate lymphomas and leukemias
Immunohistochemistry
We offer a comprehensive menu of validated diagnostic and prognostic immunohistochemical and in situ hybridization stains, which we perform on site for rapid reporting of results. We continuously evaluate new stains for clinically appropriate use. In addition, through a partnership with the premier pathology laboratory in the country (Neogenomics Laboratory), we have access to an even broader menu of immunohistochemical stains comparable to those offered at large academic medical centers.
We perform the following on site:
- HER2 immunohistochemistry for evaluation of breast and gastroesophageal cancers with appropriate reflexive FISH testing
- Mismatch repair protein expression for therapy selection in tumors and screening for tumor syndromes
- Companion diagnostic testing of PD-L1 for immunotherapy through NeoGenomics
Flow Cytometry
Our team of pathologists includes three hematopathologists with fellowship training and expertise in flow cytometry interpretation. We offer flow cytometric evaluation of blood, bone marrow, lymph node and other tissue specimens to screen for, diagnose and monitor leukemias and lymphomas.
We perform flow cytometry with state-of-the-art 10-color flow cytometers, which improve accuracy and sensitivity, even with very small sample sizes. In-house flow cytometry interpretation leads to appropriate integration with morphologic and clinical findings for the highest quality of evaluation and reporting in hematologic neoplasms.
