About
ECPC
Eastern Connecticut Pathology Consultants (ECPC) is a private practice providing diagnostic and laboratory management services to hospitals, physicians and patients in Connecticut and Massachusetts.
The group is comprised of 21 pathologists, all of whom hold American Board of Pathology certification in both anatomic pathology and clinical pathology. Additionally, our pathologists have fellowship training in gynecologic, breast, genitourinary, molecular and gastrointestinal pathology as well as dermatopathology, hematopathology, cytopathology and cardiovascular pathology.
We are experienced medical directors of Joint Commission & CAP-accredited clinical and anatomic pathology laboratories and assistant medical examiners in the State of Connecticut. Several ASCP-certified pathologists’ assistants and IT specialists provide additional support and bring expertise in macroscopic tissue prosection, specimen photography, informatics and management to our practice.
To provide each patient with accurate
laboratory diagnostic information
To become the premier independent pathology group in the northeast region of the United States by helping hospitals and physicians run high-quality anatomic pathology and clinical laboratories
Our History
Founded in 1993, ECPC has a rich history of clinical expertise (over 100 years of combined experience) and is extensively involved in medical staff leadership, peer review and corporate leadership at the board level of the hospitals and laboratories we serve.
Comprehensive medical care is a multidisciplinary job and, accordingly, we practice pathology in a collaborative way as integral members of a patient’s clinical care team. ECPC has played a pivotal role in developing robust multidisciplinary treatment programs in order to increase the quality of care provided to our patients and to support our clinical colleagues at the patient’s bedside. For example, ECPC pathologists have been instrumental in the development and ongoing operation of the Eastern Connecticut Cancer Center Institute at the John A. DeQuattro Cancer Center and its accredited cancer program, accredited by the American College of Surgeons Commission on Cancer.
In the clinical laboratory, we integrate innovative and scientifically-validated advanced techniques. These include molecular analysis and flow cytometry, employed alongside traditional histologic diagnosis, in order to provide our clients with the accurate diagnostic and predictive information necessary to create appropriate treatment and survivorship care plans. We continually strive to develop new systems to advance patient care and safety, optimize workflow and productivity and reduce the overall cost of the system
